Off-site Backups

Off-site Backups

In this article we'll be providing you with a general overview of our off-site backup service, and how you can schedule backups for your own Minecraft server, e.g. backup once a day/week/month.

We allocate a minimum of 5 off-site backups, with every Minecraft server purchased. So in case of unexpected events, your server gets compromised, or our datacenter catches fire, your server is stored securly off-site as a backup, which can be restored at any time through Quack Panel.

Note, when we say 5 off-site backups allocated, what we mean is that at any given time only 5 backups can be stored of your server. Which translates to, you being able to take as many backups as you want, as long as you're fine with deleting old backups.

Backups: FAQ

How long do backups take?

Backups are stored at around a speed of 23.8MB/s, so a Minecraft server that is e.g. 10GB in size will only take a little bit over 5 minutes.

What if I accidentally delete a backup?

If you accidentally delete a backup, note that no data from that backup can be recovered.

Can taking backups cause lag?

Running a backup does not affect the performance of your Minecraft server, it is a process ran outside of your Minecraft servers isolated container.

Do I have to manually delete backups to free up space for my schedule so it can take backups for me?

If you're creating a new backup for your Minecraft server, or a schedule running is, it will automagically delete the oldest backup you've got stored. You can however prevent backups from being deleted automagically by clicking the three dots next to a backup, and then the button named "Lock Backup".
